Give every agenta tab of its own.

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and sixteen more get tabs in the Chrome you’re already signed in to. They work in the background. You keep working.

01 / 05 — How it works

  1. Signed in, already

Agents use the Chrome you already use, so your email, dashboards and admin panels just work. You never hand over a password.

  2. Chrome stays behind your work

Agent tabs open in the background, in a tab group named after the agent. Chrome never jumps in front of what you’re doing.

  3. Your tabs are off limits

An agent can only reach the tabs it opened, and the popups those tabs open. Not yours, and not another agent’s.

  4. One click stops every agent

Click the Tabhand icon in Chrome’s toolbar and every agent stops where it is. Click it again to let them carry on.

  5. Files go in without a dialog

Agents attach files from your Mac, even through an upload button. No file picker pops up in front of you.

Setup — about a minute

One command. Then just ask.

  1. 1

    Run setup

It installs Tabhand and adds it to every agent it finds. It asks first, and backs up any settings file it changes.

  2. 2

    Turn on the extension

Setup walks you through adding it to Chrome, once. Until the Chrome Web Store listing is approved, you load it yourself in Developer mode.

  3. 3

    Ask your agent

Ask for anything that needs a browser. Your agent opens a tab of its own and gets to work.

For macOS and Google Chrome. Free and open source under the MIT License.

19 agents and counting

Works with the agents you already use.

Setup finds the agents on your Mac and asks before adding Tabhand to each one. Anything that speaks MCP can use it too.

Privacy — local by design

Nothing leaves your Mac.

There’s no Tabhand server and no account. A page goes from your Chrome to the agent that asked for it, over your own machine, and nowhere else.

Pages go from the extension to a helper on your Mac, and from there only to the agent that asked.
The helper talks over a Unix socket only you can read, with a fresh token each run.
Each agent session reaches only its own tabs. Two agents can work side by side without seeing each other.
The helper logs connects and disconnects. No URLs, no page content, nothing typed.

Questions

Asked, and answered.

Can an agent see my other tabs?

No. An agent can only reach the tabs it opened, plus tabs and popups those pages open. Your tabs, and other agents’ tabs, are invisible to it.

Will Chrome jump in front of what I’m doing?

No. Agent tabs open in the background and stay there. Tabhand keeps them rendering, so clicks, typing and screenshots work without bringing Chrome forward.

Does Tabhand see my passwords?

Agents work in the sites you’re already signed in to, so you don’t hand them a password. Tabhand doesn’t store any.

Why does Chrome say “Tabhand started debugging this browser”?

That bar is how Chrome shows that an extension can control tabs. Tabhand only attaches to tabs its agents opened. Click Cancel on it, or the Tabhand icon, to pause every agent.

Does it work on Windows or Linux?

Not yet. Tabhand works with Google Chrome on macOS for now.

Is it free?

Yes. Tabhand is free and open source under the MIT License. There’s no account and nothing to pay for.
